William is now represented by Christine Klassen in Calgary: Inaugural show on now until April 18 2015 / by william downey

I am now represented by Christine Klassen, one of the finest contemporary galleries in Calgary, and probably the best looking commercial space in the city. Christine and her creative director James McIntyre have moved from 11th Ave and renovated an industrial space on 50th Ave SE, just a few blocks north east of Chinook Centre. Avoiding the trip all the way into downtown and the free parking are a good beginning, but the real appeal of the new space is on the inside.  The main room has been subdivided into four bays, each one functioning on its own as a space within a space.  A hallway divides the four bays, creating a zone with more intimate sight lines and more private viewing spaces. The perimeter around the central bays completes the main space. So besides the outside walls, each of the four bays has three walls, with art on both sides. Altogether this allows for a massive amount of work to be displayed, but with each work having lots of room to breath and a fantastic variety of large and small spaces, long and more intimate sight lines, and natural light flooding the spaces from windows above the exhibition walls. A massive second bay accompanies the main space with a framing shop and a huge amount of art storage and a display area to augment the formal exhibition space. If you don't make it out before April 18 2015, just ask the staff and they can show you my work in the second bay. Some of my favourite paintings are on display now, and we started things out pricing pretty aggressively, so for now at least the paintings are a bit of a bargain.
